The
Tin Hau Temple in Lei Yue Mun built
in 1753 (Ching Dynasty) by a famous
pirate named "Cheng Lin Chong".
Up to now, it is more than 250
years. Pirate "Cheng" originally
was the old royal relatives of
¡§Ming¡¨Dynasty. After the collapsed
of Ming Dynasty, he then became
the pirate in the costal area of
South-Eastern China.
The temple built beside the mountain
foot near the beach. Located at the
Lei Yue Mun strait and facing the
east entrance of Victoria Harbour.
Villagers believe Tin Hau can take
care of their life and safety, and
also protect the busy shipping transportation
in the Harbour and strait. Every
22nd of March (Chinese calendar),
many believers come here to contribute
and sacrifice the burnt offering
or oblation. Villagers even raise
money to build a temporary opera
stage to perform Chinese opera. Believers
and villagers can enjoy the birthday
celebration together at every 23rd
of April (Chinese calendar) free
of charge.
